sooo im tired of everybody jumping down Naomi's throat. I'd be kinda mad too if my man was going to vegas for a bachelor party without telling me. The way I see it, she's trying to keep everything in order. She has 3 kids, a fiance and a home to oversee. sooooooo back the fuck up off my bitch naomi! lmaooo.
lmfaoooooooooooo! someone has to be the boss of the house!
“Get. Up.” She gritted, forcing my eyes to open with her fingers. I swatted her hands away and rolled over on my stomach.
“Leave me alone.” I said, groggily. “It’s my day off.”
“No it isn’t. It’s Monday.” She said. “Now come on before you’re late.” I whined and threw the pillows over my head. If she wanted me to get up, then she’d have to pick me up and do it. “Do you have to make everything so difficult?”
“Yes. Now go away.” I mumbled
“Fine. But I’m coming back in 10 minutes.” She said, slamming the door behind her. I smiled to myself. Finally. Sleep. I dreamt of our wedding. It was being held in a courtyard with multiple floral pathways leading up to the alter. Everything on my end was set in stone, including the little surprise I had in store.
It wasn’t too big, just something special for her. The reception would be even better. I had it all figured out from start to finish. Most importantly, the finish part. I was gonna lay. it. down. A year of pent up stress was waiting to be released, especially since she wouldn’t let me touch her. I was so close yesterday and—
“Wakey wakey!” Naomi said loudly in my ear. Ugh.
“Be gone you pest!” I shooed her away.
“No. You’re gonna be late for work.” She said. Fuck work.
“They don’t need me.” I said
“Yes they do. Now come on. I can’t have you lying around here all day.” She said
“Why not? You do it.” I mumbled
“That’s because a certain somebody keeps me trapped in here.” She sucked her teeth.
“You damn right.” I said, lifting my body off of the bed. “And that’s how it’s gonna stay. Get used to it.” She rolled her eyes and walked out of the room. I took a shower and got dressed in my usual suit and tie.
I walked into the nursery to say goodbye to the babies. Aaron and Avery were sound asleep, leaving me and Aries to stare at each other. She gave me that look. I call it the poopy face. Whenever she had to go she’d look at me like that and I’d always hand her to Naomi. I love my kids with everything in me but changing diapers? I can’t.
“I suppose you want me to change your diapers, huh?” I asked, squinting my eyes at her. She looked at me with the same expression, only, it looked like she was about to cry. Hell no. We ain’t havin’ that. I sighed, she’d win this time.
I picked her up and laid her on the changing table. It couldn’t be that hard, right? I opened her diaper and it was like World War 3. I’ll never understand how a baby shits so much if all they do is drink milk.
I held my nose and reached for the diapers in the drawer. I took the old one off and slam dunked it into the wastebasket. “Alright.. now the hard part.” I didn’t know how to approach the situation. I mean, am I the only one who’s uncomfortable with touching their daughter’s naked ass? It makes me feel creepy.
It’s different with women. Babies come out of them. But with dads? No. I remember asking my dad if he ever changed my diapers. He gave me a long speech about how it was a woman’s job and blah blah blah. If I knew I’d get lectured, I wouldn’t of asked.
Still though, I couldn’t just leave her here. I cleaned her up and put a fresh diaper on. “Better now?” She smiled as I held her. I know it sounds weird, but me and Aries had a connection. She’d be the wise child. I didn’t want to leave her but I really did have to get going. “I’ll be back soon, baby. I love you.” I kissed all over her face as she giggled.
She looked sad when I put her back in her crib. I couldn’t leave her with boring ass Naomi all day.. but I can’t take her to work either. Well, I guess work will have to come here. “Stay here. I’ll be right back.”
I jogged down the stairs and into the kitchen where Naomi was making breakfast. “Whatcha making?”
“Pancakes.” She said. “I thought you left.”
“Nah, I think I’ll just get some work done here today.” I said
She scrunched up her face. “But I need you out of the house.”
“Why?” I asked
“Cause I’m planning stuff.” She said
“And what does me being here have to do with that?” I asked
“You’re a distraction.” She pouted
“I won’t get in your way.” I said. “I’m gonna invite Sasha over to we can work in my office. Okay?”
“Okay.” She said, giving me a small smile. “I just don’t want you to be stressed. Things can get a little crazy around here.”
“You don’t have to worry about me. I’ll be fine. You’re the one that doesn’t need to be stressed.” I said
“Can’t help but be..” She sighed. “But it’s okay. The stress is worth it for you and my babies.”
“Mhm. We better be.” I said, smacking her ass. “I’ll be in my office if you need me.” Once I got down there, I called Sasha so we could get started. She came quickly and we got to work. I was doing a million dollar deal for a house that my team had to build and design. I still had my hand in designing so Sasha and I were making plans.
“I was thinking 2,000 square foot, commercial kitchen, tennis court, pool, spa/sauna, and guest house.” She said
“And how are we supposed to get that built and designed in 4 months?” I asked. We were on a tight deadline to get this done and considering my wedding and honeymoon coming up? This would be a disaster that could cost the company a lot of money.
“I haven’t figured that out yet.” She shrugged
“What! C’mon, this is what I pay you for.” I sighed. Over the past year, Sasha and I have become really good friends. But she has to pick up the pace with deals like this. I have three kids and a fiance to worry about. I can’t afford to lose business like this.
"I know, I know. I’ll get right on it." She said. "In the meantime…."
"I have a wedding to be thinking about." I said
"That’s right! So let me handle the boring paperwork and you go do what’s really important." She smiled
"Wow. That was almost touching." I laughed. "Now go do your job." She sucked her teeth.
"I’ll be expecting a raise." She announced
"Yeah, I bet you will. Goodbye Sasha." I said
"Dismiss me all you want to but I’ll be expecting my annual bonus, sir." She said, walking out of my office. I jogged back upstairs to the nursery where Naomi was feeding Aaron.
"Meeting over already?" She asked
"Yup. I’m all yours for the day." I grinned
"Actually, you’re not. I have things to do. You’re watching the babies." She said
"What!" I sucked my teeth.
"Hey, you chose not to go to work." She said, handing Aaron to me. "I’ll see you later." She walked out of the room and the babies all started crying simultaneously. Just my luck.
"Girl, let me tell you what I got planned for your bachelorette party." Kendra said. She, Sara, and I were sitting around having lunch like old times at some fancy Italian restaurant. They had just flew out here for the wedding.
"I’m not having one." I said. "It’s too risque."
"Like hell it is! If Erin can have his own party, then you can have one too!" She said
"She has a point." Sara added
"Oh no no no. Erin isn’t having a party either. He already said so." I said
"And you believed that nigga?" Kendra raised an eyebrow.
"Well.. yeah." I shrugged. Kendra shook her head and laughed.
"You ain’t let that nigga hit in nearly a year and you expect him to pass up the opportunity of having the best time of his single life? Girl!" She said
I sucked my teeth. “I already told you guys why we are waiting.”
"No, you are waiting.” She corrected. “Your wedding is what? Next week? And you think he can wait that long?”
"Yes." I said
"Bullshit. He’s gonna have his party and do everything his horny heart desires whether you like it or not." She said
"You really think he’d do that to me if I let him have a party?" I asked
"Um, hell yeah! You got that leash so tight around his neck I’m surprised you even allowed him to be by himself today. I mean, shit.. Erin never bows down to anyone but when it comes to you? Mhm!" She shook her head.
"I do not treat him that bad." I narrowed my eyes at him. "I just.. I want him to realize that he has responsibilities."
"That’s fine but let him breathe a little. Trust us, we know our friend." Sara added in.
I stayed quiet for the rest of our lunch and throughout the shopping for my dress. What they said was really starting to get to me. I had to remember that we’re still young. I don’t want us to start acting like an old married couple before we actually tie the knot.
I stood in front of the sculpted mirror in the dress of my dreams. It had a sweetheart neckline with diamond encrusted jewels circling in it. It flowed at the bottom into a long train and was tied in the back. I felt like Cinderella in it. “I really like this one.”
I twirled around with it, feeling the free fabric flow with my movements. It was perfect for the wedding and went along with my bridesmaids dresses which were a reddish orange. “Is this your dress?” The saleslady asked me. I nodded quickly. I didn’t want to look at anything else after this. The three of us squealed together as she rang up my already altered dress. It was a bit pricy but… I got it anyway.
We split up and went our separate ways. When I walked in the house, it was a mess. Baby bottles and toys were everywhere and I couldn’t help but notice the empty beer bottles on the kitchen table.
I’m not sure why I was angry but the next thing I knew I was charging down the steps only to be greeted by a group of people sitting around in my basement. They didn’t acknowledge me seeing as how they were too busy with the video game that they were playing.
I spotted Erin among the wave of guys, some of which were smoking and drinking. I stood there with my arms folded, waiting for him to look my way. My eyes were so fixated on him that I didn’t even realize that they had paused the game, watching me stare at him, and then slowly file out. “Heyyyyyyyy baby.” He smiled
"Where are our four month old children?" I asked lowly.
"See.. I was watching them and then…" He trailed off.
"Erin.." I said, stepping closer to him. He moved back some and laughed.
"Relax.. they’re with your mother. She came by a while ago." He shrugged
"So this is what you do when I’m not around?" I scoffed
"Most of the time, yes." He said nonchalantly. I shook my head. "I don’t understand why you’re so upset. It’s not like I can do this regularly."
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes. "I can only imagine what your bachelor party will be like." A smirk played upon his lips.
"Are you agreeing to me having one?" He asked
"No.. but if you already have something planned." I shrugged
"Oh, I do." He quickly interjected. "Nothing big."
"Oh…." I trailed off.
"I meant to tell you but I didn’t want you stressing out about it." He said
"How considerate of you." I huffed
"C’mon, don’t be like that. You can hang with your friends. Shit, I don’t care." He shrugged
"Oh really?" I asked
"Mhmmm." He said
"So.. you have your party and I have mine?" I asked
"I guess." He said. "There’s just one thing."
"What." I said dryly.
"The guys kinda sorta planned it in Vegas…" He said
"Wait a minute.. so you were planning on going to Vegas and having a party without telling me?" I asked
"I mean, yes?" He shrugged
"Erin…" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Look, it’s gonna be fine. Trust me." He laughed. "A few days with my boys and then I’m yours for the rest of my life." He wrapped his arms around my waist and held me closer. "I’ll behave."
"Whatever." I sucked my teeth.
I watched as he packed his suitcase neatly. I can’t believe I’m actually letting him go. Yeah, I trust him and everything but this is stressful. I need Erin. “I’m only gonna be gone for a few days. Stop looking like a sad puppy.” He laughed.
“I’m not..” I pouted. “I’m gonna miss you. It’ll be boring around here.”
“No it won’t. You’ll be so busy, you won’t even notice I’m gone.” He said. “And when I get back, everything will be perfect.”
“You better not have too much fun there, Mr. Izibor.” I warned
“I won’t, Mrs. Izibor.” He smiled
“Eww. I don’t like your last name.” I scrunched my face up.
“And I don’t like yours.. that’s why I’m changing it.” He said
“Did I ever mention how corny you are?” I laughed
“Yes, everyday. Keep saying shit like that to me and I’ll stop forreal.” He said
“You promise?” I joked. He cut his eyes at me and got off of the bed. “Erinnn. Come back. I’m only playing.” He flipped me the bird and slammed the door shut. I ran after him laughing. Opening the door, he was nowhere to be found. “I was just joking.”
I turned each corner in search of him. I couldn’t find him anywhere and I was starting to get frustrated. Just when I decided to give up, I was tackled to the ground. “Why you always talkin’ shit?”
“Erin. Get. Off.” I said in between laughs. He pinned my arms above my head placed his nose against mine.
“I don’t want to marry you anymore. You’re too mean.” He mumbled against my lips.
“Awww. Don’t be like that.” I smiled
“Nah, I’m too good for you. You don’t appreciate me.” He said
“That’s not true. You’re the best thing I ever had.” I said
“You just saying that.” He frowned
“Nuh uhhhhh.” I whined. “Now smile.”
“Nope. I don’t like you anymore.” He said
“You really mean that?” I pouted
“Yes.” He said
“But I looooooove you.” I sang
“Too bad. You’ve had your chance.” He said, getting off of me. I laughed and followed him back into our room.
“Drama queen.” I mumbled
“Like I said, keep talking shit if you want to. I got something for that ass.” He said. I rolled my eyes playfully.
Ireland though? This is why Naomi can't be in charge of anything. All the places in the world? See he suggested Hawaii and you said no, Ireland is the not the place you go for a honeymoon. Fuck wrong with these hoes?? Lol
Yeahhh Naomi, because Ireland is just the IDEALLLL place for a honeymoon. This is NOT the Luck of the Irish. If you want to get a feel of Ireland, go to Sam's Club and buy a value box of Lucky Charms. Taste the fucking Rainbow.
I stood in front of the tall mirror and admired myself. I told myself over and over to smile. It wouldn’t take much. I heard their soft coos in the background as I touched the lace fabric that engulfed my body. My dream was becoming a reality. It’s what every girl wishes for. Love.
I turned to see the different angels of the heavily endowed gown. It’s train circled around, giving it a full finish. I stood, indecisive. 40 dresses later and I still can’t choose. But today? Erin was making me. Our wedding was in two weeks.
I felt butterflies in my stomach and a smile play on my lips. The day couldn’t come soon enough. I had everything planned out. Ducks swimming in a pond, a full string orchestra playing as I walked down the aisle, Sophia would be the flower girl, and most importantly, my baby would be waiting for me at the alter.
I couldn’t imagine a better day. Everything was starting to fall into place, except for this. “So, Naomi.. is this your dress?” I chewed on the inside of my lip. I didn’t want to say yes so quickly.. but I didn’t want to say no.
"I don’t know.." I shrugged. My wedding planner, Jennifer let out a loud huff.
"Oh come on! You look great. Just please, we need to find a dress today." She pleaded. She was right.
"I know, I know. Maybe if Erin—" She cut me off.
"No! That’s breaking tradition. It’s bad luck you know." She said. Tradition wasn’t the issue. She just doesn’t like Erin and Erin doesn’t like her. I guess it makes sense why they would be at odds.
"But.. I can’t decide." I pouted. "Mom, what do you think?"
"You look gorgeous, sweetheart. But if you don’t love it, then it’s not the dress for you." She said
I sighed loudly. As much as I liked the dress, it wasn’t it and I knew that. Well, guess I’m going home empty handed today. I got into my new CLS Class that Erin bought me and sped home. I tried making as little noise as possible when coming inside.
Erin was sleeping in bed with the babies on top of him. It looked like he had just given birth to baby puppies. Too cute. I crept around the room and set my bag down. I walked into the bathroom and started to wash the makeup off of my face. My errands for the day were done and there’s nothing I wanted more than to just join the crowd and go to sleep.
Just as I was wiping my face clean, I heard the door open slightly. Erin yawned loudly and rubbed his eyes. “Hey sleepy head.”
"Where have you been?" He asked groggily, pushing me out of the way so he could use the bathroom.
"That’s rude and nasty." I sucked my teeth.
"Shut up." He huffed. "And again, where have you been?"
"Why do you want to know so badly?" I asked
"Because, you left me with three crying four month olds this morning." He cut his eyes at me. "They wore me out."
"Now you know how it feels when I’m left here all day with him." I laughed. "Speaking of that, maybe we should hire a—" He cut me off.
"No." He said as he flushed the toilet and washed his hands.
"But Erinnnnnn." I whined
"But nothing. My kids aren’t growing up around strangers." He said. Erin had this crazy idea that their minds would be "corrupted" if I left them with a baby sitter for a few hours a week. He was paranoid.
"What if I want a job?" I said
"You? Working?" He laughed. "You know damn well that doesn’t mix."
"What! I’m a great employee." I pouted
"Lets not lie." He said
"Then what am I great at?" I asked. A smirk crept on his face as he bit down on his lip. He closed the door slowly and walked over to me, placing me on the counter. He leaned in closely, our faces nearly touching. I knew where this was going.
"How do you want me to answer that?" He said lowly in my ear. His heat was radiating off of him, making my body tingle under his. He let his lips rest on the crook of my neck before trailing kisses along it on the way back to my lips. We haven’t been this close in a while. It’s my fault. I hold back every time.
"Erinnnn." I said, letting a soft moan escape my lips.
"Hmmm?" He mumbled against my skin. He started tugging at my shirt and I started to tense up. He hasn’t seen me since before the babies were born. I didn’t want him to.
"What about the babies?" I breathed out.
"Shhh. They’re in their cribs." He quieted me with another kiss. Everything was telling me to give in but, I couldn’t. I didn’t want him to feel bad. It wasn’t him.. it was me. I promised him that everything would be normal after I had the babies but I was the one acting strange.
He successfully removed my shirt but before he could get a good look at me, the babies began to cry from the other side of the door. He sucked his teeth and tended to whatever they were crying for.
I took the advantage to fix myself back up for bed. I finished what I was initially doing before turning the lights off. “Everything okay?”
"Yeah.." He mumbled. "But what happened? I thought we were getting somewhere?"
"We were but… it can wait." I said. "I’m really tired."
"You’re tired………" He trailed off.
"Mhmmm." I nodded
"But..you know I could’ve put that ass to bed right?" He smirked
"Erin." I laughed, hitting his chest playfully. "Wedding night.. it’ll be special."
"Promise?" He asked, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Yes." I said. "It’ll be perfect." I hope.
The next day…
I wedged myself further into the closet, throwing clothes over me so I wouldn’t be found. I heard her charging into our room in attempt to find me, but I was sure that she wouldn’t. “Erin, I know you’re in here. Come out now.” She commanded, her voice low and filled with anger. I suppose we play this game every time she’s here.
The closet door creaked open and the room lit up when she turned on the lights. She rummaged around, throwing clothes everywhere. I slowly repositioned myself so I wouldn’t be seen. “I don’t have time for this, Erin.” Oh, she better find some time.
She sighed loudly in frustration, making me want to laugh. I told Naomi that I didn’t want to do it. She should have listened. “I’m going to give you 10 seconds to come out from wherever you’re hiding and if you don’t come out, you’ll be sleeping on the couch tonight.” I laughed to myself. Her threats didn’t phase me. She always said the same thing whenever I did this. I’ve slept on the couch 3 times already and a 4th night wouldn’t make much of a difference.
“10….9…..8….7….” She started counting down. I shifted a little more in the closet to make myself more comfortable and in the process, I was caught. “Get your ass out of there, now.” Naomi glared, pulling me by the ear.
“Ow! Stopppp.” I whined
“What did I tell you about this, Erin?” She gritted. “We have a wedding to plan and I suggest that you get your ass in there, sit down, and pay attention to what the wedding planner has to say.”
“But, I—” She cut me off.
“This isn’t up for discussion. Let’s go.” She said. I sighed and followed her out of the room only to meet my arch enemy. Jennifer, our wedding planner. She had to be the most stuck up, lazy, irrelevant bitch on the planet. And the worst part was, Naomi liked her.
“Well, so nice of you to finally join us, Erin.” She smiled crookedly.
“It’s Mr. Izibor to you.” I mumbled, instantly regretting it when Naomi elbowed me in my side.
“Behave.” She whispered in my ear. I sucked my teeth and listened for whatever she had to say. “Go on, Jennifer.”
"Alright, the wedding is in two weeks and we still have a ton of things to do." She said "Lets start with the biggest thing.. honeymoon. Where do you guys want to go?"
"Japan." Naomi said
"Helllllllllllllllll no." I shook my head.
"What! Why not?" She whined
"Who the hell do you know in Japan?" I asked
"No one." She shrugged. "But that’s not an excuse not to go!"
"Yes it is. Besides, you don’t know Japanese. That’s reason number two." I said. She sucked her teeth and moved away from me. "I think we should go to Hawaii."
"Hawaii?! You’re kidding me." She said
"No, it’s perfect." I said. "And we won’t be too far if something happens."
"Something like what, Erin." She kissed her teeth.
"I don’t know." I shrugged. "But, we should be careful. What if there’s an earthquake?"
"What if there’s a tsunami in Hawaii?" She countered. Touche.
"I’ve got an idea!" Jennifer chimed in. "How about you two meet in the middle? Pick a place that’s not as far as Japan but not as close as Hawaii."
"Ireland." Naomi said
"The hell…" I trailed off.
"How can you diss it when your family is from there!" She said. She had a point. I was part Irish, but I couldn’t let her know that she was right.
"So." I said simply.
"So, that’s where we’re going." She smiled. "You’re booking the flight tonight."
"Like hell I am.." I sucked my teeth.
"This isn’t up for discussion. We agreed that I could pick the place." She said
"When?!" I asked
"Just now." She smirked. "We’re going and that’s final." I let out a loud sigh.
"Whatever." I mumbled
"Good, now that that’s over with.." Jennifer trailed off. "Lets move on to wedding wardrobe. Erin, do you have you and your groomsman’s tuxes?"
"Yeah..ordered them last week." I said
"Anddddddddd, Naomi. About your dress.." She said. They both exchanged a look as if they were sending each other messages that I couldn’t understand.
"You did get one today, right?” I narrowed my eyes at her.
"Well……..seewhathadhappenedwas…" She mumbled. I ran my hands over my face. This shit was supposed to have been done.
"I thought you said you were getting it today so it’d be ready by the time our wedding day rolled around. Which happens to be in t w o w e e k s." I said
"I know.." She pouted. "But I couldn’t find one that I really liked." I waved her off. I know the wedding dress is the woman’s more important thing during the wedding but, Naomi was taking too long. She wanted to get married this early and I had no problem with it. I’d marry her tomorrow if that’s what she wanted. But now that it’s time to really get ready, she slacks and I really don’t want to push the date back.
We were getting married on March 25. It’ll be our two year anniversary, 5 months after the babies were born, and 3 months after I proposed. Corny? Yes. Do I want to change it? No.
"You’re running out of time, babe." I said
"I’m gonna choose tomorrow. I swear." She said
"Yeah aight. I’mma hold you to that." I said
“Two more weeks.” She cooed into my ear. “Then you’ll be all mine.”
“I’m already yours.” I mumbled into her neck. Naomi and I laid on the deck, thinking about our future. We had been talking for hours on end but I didn’t mind. I never did.
“I know, I know… but babe, we’re getting married. It’s gonna be different.” She said. “A good different..”
“You sure?” I asked
“Yes.. as long as you don’t ever change.” She said
“I promise.” I said. I closed my eyes as her hands ran through the short curls that were growing. I’ve never been so in love. She was my other half, my best friend, the woman of my dreams….
“What are you thinking about?” She said
“You..” I said. She laughed a little.
“You’re so corny.” She giggled
“Shut up. I’m romantic.” I said. “Aaron is gonna be just like me when he grows up.”
