I really loved that chapter. Now, I feel like Erin and Naiomi are ALMOST on equal footing with the whole meeting someone else at their parties, although Erin will definitely be more upset about Damon for a number of reasons I could possibly understand. Especially him flying them all out to NYC and giving them tickets, Erin's ego is not up for another man (that he doesn't know and that likes his wife) paying for his shit. I like where this could be going. Lol.
I tugged on the bottom of my skin tight gold dress. I wanted to be here but then again, I didn’t. The only reason I stepped foot into this place was because Sara and Kendra begged me to go out. I wasn’t planning on staying out too late since I had to get the house ready for Erin’s parents in the morning.
We walked into the packed club and suddenly I felt all eyes on me. We walked through a murmur of men, each calling out to me but I wouldn’t give them the time of day. “Girl, you better go after one of these guys! They fine!” Kendra nudged me.
"Thanks, but no thanks." I laughed as the three of us sat down at the bar.
"You’re gonna regret thisss." Sara sang
"Damn right. Cause after this, you’re stuck with plain ass Erin." Kendra scrunched her face up.
"Hey, he is not plain." I crossed my arms.
"Yes he is. Man, you should have seen him back in the day! He was so young and free.. Those were the good old days. Just me, Sara, Erin, and Christina." Kendra rambled on. Sara nudged her in the side and gave her a look to shut up. I tried to not let her comment bother me. I know she didn’t mean it in a bad way. "Naomi, I—" I cut her off.
"It’s okay. I see what you’re saying." I mumbled. "I’m just gonna go to the bathroom." I got up and pushed through the crowd. I didn’t really have to go, I just needed some air.
I stood in front of the mirror and took a few breaths. I wasn’t mad or anything. I just… feel so… frumpy. Maybe I need to loosen up. This is my time to have fun. I shouldn’t let a seemingly harmless comment ruin that.
I took my hair out from it’s high bun and let my blonde curls roam free. The length of my dress nor the height of my heel mattered anymore as I sauntered out of the bathroom and onto the dance floor. ‘Round Of Applause’ by Waka Flocka came blaring through the speakers as I stood in the middle of a now formed circle.
Everyone watched as I did every trick I new. I rolled my hips and got lost into the music. I felt like a teenager again instead of some boring mom. I always forget that I’m 21 and I deserve to be care-free once in a while so when some guy came and danced on me, I didn’t protest.
He held me by my waist and he grinded behind me. I was doing the same in front and I could feel “him” growing on the side of my thigh. I smirked to myself. I didn’t feel old anymore. I threw back drink after drink and let the music do all the talking for me.
Soon after, I ended up in VIP. Apparently, the guy who I was dancing with was some big time baseball player. His team has stopped by for an appearance and I was so enticing that he just had to take me to meet them. I didn’t mind, especially since the liquor was kicking in. “So, what’s your name?”
His voice was deep and smooth. His lips brushed against my ear as he whispered into it. Everything about him was drawing me in. From his 6’4 frame, to his chocolate brown orbs, and his one of a kind smile. “Naomi.” I said sheepishly.
"Beautiful name for a beautiful girl like yourself." He smiled, kissing my hand. "What’s a pretty girl like you doing at the club all by herself?"
"Well, I was here with my friends.." I trailed off. He nodded in response and looked over the balcony.
"I think they left you." He laughed
"Maybe." I shrugged. I should have figured it. They were probably with some random guys right now. It didn’t bother me since this mystery guy was keeping me company. I turned on my phone and sure enough there was a text saying that they had left. I also checked the time, 3:18 in the morning. Shit. "Look, it was really nice meeting you but I have to go."
"I understand." He smiled. "Let me give you a ride though. You look a little tipsy." I smiled at his offer but knew I couldn’t take it. C’mon, how does it look for me to be riding home with another man when I would be getting married next week?
"No, that’s okay. I’ll just call a cab." I said
"You sure?" He raised an eyebrow. "I can’t have you going missing."
"You seem to care a lot about strangers." I laughed
"Well, when they’re as gorgeous as you? Then yeah.." He bit down on his lip. I had to keep telling myself that I had a fiance and three kids at home. If it weren’t for that, I’d be all over him.
"You’re really sweet. But I have to go. Goodnight." I said. He graciously pulled me back by the arm.
"Wait.. can I get your number?" He asked. I stood there in contemplation. It wouldn’t be right but the alcohol was buzzing in my system again. "It’s cool if you don’t want to. It’s just that.. the season is starting and I’m trying to make friends while I’m out here."
I nodded in understanding. The lord knows I need friends too. “Sure.” We put each others numbers into our phones before I slipped away. It then dawned on me that I just gave my number to complete stranger whose name I don’t even know. This could end badly.
I stood outside of the club in an attempt to face reality and go home. I called a cab but they said they wouldn’t be here for another 45 minutes. I groaned in response and sat on the curb. I wanted to go back inside but the line to get in was long as hell and I wasn’t about to wait in it. Without thinking, I texted the mystery guy whose name was actually Damon.
Any way you can get me back inside?
He texted back quickly telling me that he’d be out in 5 minutes. I let out a big breath and waited. I heard footsteps coming behind me followed by a slew of groupies calling out his name. “Long time no see.” He joked, sitting down next to me. “What’s the problem?”
"It’s cold out here." I shrugged. He threw his arm around me and held me closer. His fingers trailed up and down my exposed arm. It made me warm but then I reminded myself. I have a fiance. Harmless or not, I with someone. "I’m, uh… engaged."
"Really? I don’t see a ring on your finger." He smirked. I looked down and sure enough, there wasn’t one. I had forgot that I took it off. I didn’t want it getting lost or anything. I wasn’t expecting that I would meet someone that was clearly interested in me.
"Oh, I took it off." I said. He gave me a shaky smile and laughed.
"Fine, if you say you’re taken, then you’re taken." He said. "But at least put my jacket on." I reluctantly took it and put it on. I felt a little more comfortable wearing it rather than him having his arm around me.
"So…" I trailed off, trying to bring up some type of conversation. "What team do you play for?"
"Yankees." He said simply.
"Really? I’ve never heard of you.." I said. He pretended to look hurt by the comment but I didn’t mean it like that. Well, I did… but still.
"Damn…" He laughed. "I’m just starting out."
"Oh, well I hope I can see you play sometime." I said
"That’d be nice." He smiled. "I got a fan already."
"Hey, as long as you’re paying for the tickets. I expect a plane ride and front row seats." I joked
"I think I can get that arranged." He nodded
"Good." I smiled as my cab pulled up. "Well, it was nice meeting you."
"Same here. I’ve never met a more beautiful woman." He said. My cheeks flushed a deep red and I handed him his jacket back. He helped me off of the curb and opened the cab door.
"Thanks." I said
"It’s no problem." He smiled. "Take this gorgeous lady to wherever she needs to be." He said, slipping the cab driver a crisp hundred dollar bill. "Listen, I’ll be in town for about another week.. maybe we can have lunch tomorrow?"
"I don’t know.." I said truthfully. He nodded and bit down on his lip. I could tell he was a little disappointed. "I’ll call you tomorrow."
"Sure thing." He said, his mood brightening. "Goodnight Ms. Naomi."
"Goodnight." I smiled, and boy.. was it good..
"Hey man, what happened to you last night?" Marcus asked me as we sat around at breakfast. I wanted to forget that the night even happened. I still felt guilty about leaving with that stripper. A part of me didn’t want to tell Naomi.. but I had to. She was gonna be my wife soon and I don’t want our marriage to start out with lies.
"He got it innnnnn." Jacob laughed
"It’s not funny." I sucked my teeth.
"Was it the stripper that was dancing on you?" Marcus asked
"Hell yeah it was her!" Jacob said before I got the chance to explain.
"We didn’t do.. that much. I stopped myself." I said
"Damn.. you gon tell Naomi?" Marcus asked
"I don’t know. What if she’s really mad?" I sighed
"Oh come on, it wouldn’t be that bad." Jacob brushed off. Little did he know it would be really bad. Naomi was already holding out on sex.. I could only imagine what she would do next.
"You haven’t seen her temper." I laughed. I loved Naomi with all my heart but honestly? She’s crazy as hell when she’s upset. And besides that, her hormones are still out of whack. I wanted to think that she was pregnant again.. but then I realized how she won’t let me touch her so that’s out of the question.
"What? Naomi is the sweetest person I know." Jacob said. "Her temper is nothing compared to Alicia’s. She’s bat shit crazy."
"Then why are you still married to her?" Marcus laughed
"Cause despite everything, I love her. Besides, if we ever got a divorce, I’d never be able to find another woman as fine as her that’s in my league." Jacob shook his head.
"Aww, that was almost cute." I laughed
"Laugh if you want, but you might be stuck in the same boat as me one day." He said. Oh God, I hope not. They might be in love but they definitely can’t stand one another.
"I sure hope not.." I mumbled
"I hope you don’t mind." I said sheepishly, setting the brake down on the stroller and sitting across from him.
"I didn’t know you had kids." He smiled, lifting the blanket from over top of them. "They’re adorable. Triplets?"
"Yeah.. 4 months." I said
"Damn.. you serious?" He licked his lips. "You look amazing."
"Thank you." I smiled. Damn, he knew all the right things to say.
"What’s their names?" He asked, never taking his eyes off of them.
"Aries, Aaron, and Avery." I smiled
"Your boyfriend help you name them?" He asked. I nodded slowly. It seemed like a weird question to me but I brushed it off. "Lemme guess, your boyfriend’s name is Aaron huh?"
"Yeah, but it’s spelled a different way." I said
"Oh, that’s kinda cool." He said. "I’ve always wanted kids… but I think I’ll wait till I’m older and married. No offense to you." He said quickly, noticing my discomfort.
"None taken." I said. I’ve gotten enough grief about being so young with kids but I felt like he was sincere.
"Look I know I just met you but I really do think you’re cool. I’m not saying that to push up on you either. You seem like you have it all figured out. I admire that." He said genuinely.
"Thanks. I try to keep everything sane." We both laughed.
"I know what you mean…" He said. "Baseball is about to get crazy.."
"I wish you good luck with that. I know you’ll do good." I said
"I hope so." He said. "Cause if I don’t then I won’t be able to make it to championships and play in LA."
"And why would that be a problem?" I smirked. He laughed and shook his head.
"No reason." He shrugged
"Uh huh."I said. "I can’t help but think that you’re flirting with me."
"What?" He gasped. "I would never.. well, not in front of your kids. Besides, I respect your relationship too much."
"You’re sweet." I smiled
"Yeah well.." He blushed. "I kinda want to impress you."
"No need to try. You already have." I said
"Good. So does that mean you’ll come to my first game?" He asked slickly.
"I, um.. I don’t know." I said. "I mean, we just met.. and I’m kinda getting married.. next week. But thanks for offering."
"I’m sorry for rushing things." He apologized. "But I didn’t think that two months away would be a problem."
"It’s two months away..?" I asked. He nodded and laughed.
"You said you wanted a plane ticket and front row seats. I got you." He said. "5 tickets right?"
